After the weekend’s events in London on Friday night, Jay, me (Foxy) and a few LB members spent Saturday together, chilling out and supporting each other. So, we were unable to cover the racing at Brands on Saturday. Sunday morning came, the sun was shining and we were really in the mood for it. Jay and I had a nice ride out of town, bumping into Andrew, Rottie and ChrisD on Vauxhall Bridge. We rode some of the way together and parted at the entrance to Brands. (see more)
Once at the paddock entrance, Andrea met us with our complimentary tickets, (Thanks again AdrenalinX). Breakfast was next on the list of things to do, nothing quite like a fry up every once in a while. We had a walk around the paddock and drooled over the bikes, then had a walk around to Clearways. There we met LB members, Chuffster (great to see your on the mend mate), Storm in a D-cup and Biggus and watched race one. It was very exciting, just the sound of the bikes screaming past does things for me. After race one, Jay and I wandered back round towards Paddock Hill, on the way we saw Rasta, Vinny and Phil. They had tickets to the stands, so we joined them and watched the 600cc Super Sports, which was another good race. We all wanted coffee and refreshments before the long walk towards Druids.
We positioned ourselves in the middle of Druids just as race two got started. We could hear the bikes on the grid revving and waited to see them come tearing down Paddock Hill and up into Druids right past us. Its amazing how close to the bikes we were and the rush I got from the noise just blew me away. Haslam and Lavillia looked like they were on fire and took the lead from the start of the race. James Hayden looked like he was on pace, then he crashed coming out of Druids into Graham Hill, fortunately he wasn’t hurt. Leon Haslam won the race in true style, giving everyone at Druids a complementary burn out on his victory lap. A good day was had by all and a great finale to the British Super Bikes for this year.
The ride home was a pain due to the police diverting the traffic. We ended up going from Brands, all through the country lanes, (which was the good bit) then, onto the M26 towards the lovely M25, which was in gridlock for most of the way. Luckily I know a lot of back roads so, we came off on the M23 and into South East London, then home.
