Shaun Simpson and Stephen Sword stepped up to the MX1 class and it was pretty much down to the KTM riders for the third spot on the British team. Simpson started well and kept his cool to finish ahead of Sword in moto one - Billy Mackenzie took the win - 1 nil Simpson! Race two it was a completely different story with Swordy dominating and taking the win from James Noble and Mackenzie but it was Simpson who had the nightmare and finished in a lowly tenth position - 1-1! This meant Swordy took the overall, so did this mean he had the spot on the team - no unfortunately not as Steve Dixon announced his third rider as Shaun Simpson to the crowd at the end giving his reasons in full from the podium. Simpson rode comfortably and is now the third rider on the British team for this weekends MXDN in Italy.
