Ryuichi Kiyonari finally conquered the Cadwell Park circuit where victory, even in his two title winning years had eluded him with a stylish performance in the opener to the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship. The Japanese rider however was denied the opportunity of a winning double when his bike was sidelined on the warm-up lap by a technical problem ahead of the second race which was won by his HM Plant Honda team-mate Josh Brookes. Kiyo added: “For me, very special, the team’s home track, my home track. I try many times for this. In earlier years, the team have private tests here for me, help me a lot, but no wins, till this one,” he added. “This is the perfect week for me – my baby son Koma was born six days ago, now I win the race for him and my wife Madoka.”
In the Fuchs Silkolene Supersport class Billy McConnell shrugged aside a tumble in the raceday morning warm-up session to lead throughout the fourth round of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Superbike Championship and take his first win of the season.
McConnell said: "I am chocked up to win this race as it feels like a long time coming and it is down to the hard work from the CAME Yamaha team. I have had some bad luck but we have turned it around here that's for sure. We have been up there all weekend and I am relieved to have won a race and to get my championship back on track."
After the TT break the series continues with round 5 coming from Mallory Park in Leicestershire 25-27th June. (see less)
