MCE British Superbikes 2011 Rd10 Donington Park
What a start to the showdown, whatever your views of the rules there's no denying it creates tension. If you make it through to the top six, great, but the pressure is ten fold, its going to push them into taking chances that they perhaps wouldn't under normal rules. Race 1 produced one of the most exciting races of the year so far, its win or bust basically as proved in the 2nd race when Michael Laverty made the same move on Shakey as he had done to him in the first race at Redgate but this time they both ended up in the gravel. Hopper returned in style after sitting out Cadwell and like he said in post race interviews the adrenaline took him through the pain barrier with an ice pack replacing his glove as soon as he took it off. Silverstone next and we saw how quick John Hopkins was there in SBK. We already have 2 championships decided, the Triumph Triple challenge saw Luke Jones take the title with a win, I mean, how satisfying is that. In Superstock 600 Keith Farmer came home in 6th place for a convincing wrap up of the series, Superstock 1000 has seen a turnaround in fortunes as Richard Cooper looks like a likely candidate to take the championship as it was a day to forget for Danny Buchan who must have all but conceded his title hopes now as there have been a distinct lack of Booms! lately. Alistair Seeley and Ben Wilson have made the Supersport 600 a championship of their own, or a showdown of 2 basically, Bens lead in the series is being eroded round by round and along with the premier class its going down to the wire.
