The Audi Forum, Picadilly, saw the launch of the 2007 Bennetts British Superbike series. All the top teams came together to meet at the rather plush showroom. Audi are the series saftey-car sponsors, hence the location. The media were hyped up for the season ahead, with a huge array of rider/team changes and some new bikes thrown in. (see more)
Nicest bike of the event had to be the Buildbase Ducati 1098 Superstock racer, and then perhaps the Tas Suzuki "Relentless" GSX-R 600 Supersport racer. The Superbikes looked sharp as well, with some nice changes from the Yamaha R1 and Suzuki GSX-R 1000 machines.
A video was shown to promote just how amazing bike racing is compared to other motorsports where nobody overtakes and few crash. We all know bike racing is nothing as boring so could only get excited as the memory of the adrenalin-rush of race spectating comes flooding back!
The riders were taken on a tour of London in a big red tour bus, but we stayed indoors and ate croissants. It was a bit chilly outside, and besides, we've seen London before! Watch this space for further photos though.
This bank-holiday weekend sees the opening round of the series at London's Brands Hatch circuit on the A20/M20. We'll be there covering the weekend, and hope to see you out and about there as well! Check the forums for details of ride-outs happening to the circuit to see this amazing race series.
