MCE British Superbikes 2011 Round 7 Oulton Park #1
A testing weekend for most people with the weather again doing its worst to spoil things, all started well on Friday apart from John Laverty in his own words 'bashed himself up a bit" (an understatement to say the least)... another to add to the growing list of multiple injuries this season lets hope thats the last. Raceday was always going to be a tight schedule due to the restrictions of the noise curfew even in the dry and without any red flags but I guess nobody expected SO much rain! The abandoned races will now be shoe-horned into the remaining events. The only superbike race saw Hopper and Peter Hickman fall victim to the slippery and dodgy conditions at Lodge in identical crashes which produced an entertaining condemnation from Michael Rutter in the post race interview. Tommy Hill has now drawn level in podium credits in impressive style with Shakey which looks like its going to produce an aptly named showdown with Josh Brookes now finding form stepping into the all important top 6 and can't be ruled out of the title fight. The Evo class had Scott Smart showing his mastery of the wet conditions to take the win and finish 10th overall. Superstock 1000 series leader Danny Buchan is fortunate to hold onto the lead in the championship after the GBmoto squad in particular Tris Palmer had their points deducted due to a technical infringement and last week the 18 year old hotshot breaking his collarbone in his Worlds debut during practice and then crashing out in Sunday's wet race while challenging for a top 3 finish, in the process knocking his head. A statement the next day on that well known social site page had him declaring "CT scan shows their was no brain in my head to be damaged! Mint!" Love it.
